Today we were called out to a property in Wolverhampton that had a downstairs toilet starting to show signs of blockage as it was taking forever to flush away. The home owner had not long brought their home and were worried there was a problem with the drains, luckily they called us before the small problem became a major problem.

After a quick inspection, it was clear to see the problem was a blockage between the toilet waste pipe and the first manhole. Before resorting to our drain jetter we always like to rod the drains first which on this occasion seemed to be sufficient. After only a few minutes rodding with a 4-inch rubber plunger we were already starting to get a slight water flow and the toilet level was dropping.

So we carried on rodding the drain which then revelled the problem, baby wipes…

Even though some washlets state they are flushable, we can assure you that it is not a wise idea to flush them down your toilet as they can restrict the water flow when they get caught on yours drains bends, aged drains or drainage compromised by tree roots, which results in a backflow of water into your homes drains, toilet, baths and sinks.
 

So, after clearing away the build-up of babywipes and fully flushing any waste/debris, the drainage system was fully restored so that the water could flow.

With all wastepipes cleared and the toilet unblocked it was off to our next job for team JetOWash.
